Pre-Assessment Validation
Pre-Assessment Validation (also known as pre-use or pre-implementation validation) focuses specifically on whether your RTOs training and assessment resources thoroughly assess the requirements of the training package and comply with the Standards for RTOs 2015.
RTO Validation Specialists will compare your assessment materials to the training package criteria to find any missing or inadequate assessment of the unit of competency requirements. We will also evaluate the overall quality and conformity of your training products to the Standards for RTOs 2015.
Our expert validators will:
- Ensure the mapping document is accurate and reliable as evidence of how the assessment tool meets compliance and training package requirements.
- Check that all requirements of the unit of competency is covered, including performance criteria, performance evidence and knowledge evidence, foundation skills and assessment condition requirements.
- Provide a comprehensive, actionable report with comments to identify any gaps/issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
Post-Assessment Validation
Post-Validation or Post-use Validation (validation of assessment judgments) is the formal process mandated by the Standards for RTOs 2015 that every RTO must undertake.
Within a post-validation process, validators consider the validity of both assessment practices and assessment judgments.
RTO Validation Services utilises the ASQA sample size calculator to determine the number of assessment judgments to include in Post Validation activities.
Our expert validators will:
- Review student samples.
- Confirm that your RTOs assessment system consistently produced valid assessment judgments.
- Provide a report with recommended improvements and rectifications to your assessment process.
Moderation
Moderation is a quality control process conducted before the finalisation of student results. It ensures assessment decisions are consistent for all students, within a unit of competency. Moderation is not explicitly required by the Standards, but it is an important process that can be used to increase the consistency and quality of assessment in your training organisation to enhance overall compliance.
